The Rainy Saturday That Started It All

A couple of months ago, on a rainy Saturday in May, I had every intention of doing absolutely nothing. Like, zero. Nada. Zilch. Nothing. The kind of nothing where you disappear into the couch and emerge only for Cheezels the occasional toilet break. I was wearing my giant black fluffy hoodie with the embroidered cat face (Lulu approved), leopard print fluffy pj bottoms, and an unshakeable sense of smug laziness.

But somehow, instead of marinating in sloth, I opened my laptop. Just to check Elvenar. That’s all. Just a quick check on my city… A teensy weensy little peek. You know where this is going, don’t you? Before I knew it, I had a dozen new tabs open, and had created an entirely new Pinterest account because apparently, I have a deep psychological need to start everything from scratch during moments of chaotic inspiration.

With the dopamine from that decision flooding my brain, I then designed a brand new pin style, updated all my blog post graphics to match, and scheduled two weeks worth of pins like a woman possessed. At one point I was balancing a matcha latte in one hand, tweaking font sizes with the other, while Lulu chased a rogue piece of string across the room like he was on a mission from the goddess of mischief herself.

I Was Just Gonna Check One Thing

All I wanted to do was create a new Pinterest for this blog. That’s literally it. A fresh account with a cute bio, a couple of new pin templates, maybe schedule a week or two ahead. Nothing intense. I had no grand plan, just a matcha in hand, Lulu curled up beside me, and the intention to potter about with some mild digital faffing.

But then I looked at my new pin templates and thought, hmm, these don’t match the blog. Which led to updating my header. Then the fonts. Then the whole colour palette. You cannot design new pins with old vibes, okay? Suddenly I was deep into Canva like it owed me money, rewriting taglines and adjusting spacing like I was prepping for a TED Talk no one invited me to.

Next thing I know, I’m overhauling everything. The website. Pinterest. Spotify playlists. Even my Google Drive folders got dragged into this chaos. I’d opened my laptop to do one thing and now I was mid-brand renaissance in my fluffy pyjamas, powered by rain, tea, and the stubborn refusal to leave things halfway done. It wasn’t a rebrand. It was a personality shift.

Who Needs Sleep When You’ve Got Canva?

Let’s not forget that while this web-based renaissance was occurring, I also managed to fry the most perfect egg of my life. I’m not being dramatic. It was the kind of egg that deserves its own monologue. The underside was crispy, like it knew it was starring in the moment. The white was perfectly set, no weird gloopy bits, just pure breakfast excellence. And the yolk? Glossy, golden, runny in that luxurious slow-drip way that makes you pause and admire your own brilliance.

In between page rewrites, I also curated multiple Spotify playlists that reflected the new aesthetic of my site. There’s one for writing, one for mood swings, one for crying in a hot shower while pretending you’re in a music video. You know, the essentials. I even gave each playlist a cute cover. The kind of detail you focus on when your body is tired but your soul is vibrating with divine inspiration.

At one point, I opened my folder of half-written articles and just started scheduling them. Like some kind of content fairy. I didn’t edit them or double-check anything. Quite frankly, I just threw them on the calendar and whispered, “You’ll be fine,” like a chaotic babysitter. And you know what? They WERE fine. They’re some of my most-read pieces now. Apparently delirium is good for SEO.

The Moment of Realisation

It wasn’t until the sun started creeping in through the window and Lulu began loudly announcing his breakfast demands that I realised I hadn’t slept. I looked around. There were multiple mugs of tea in various states of consumption. Canva tabs as far as the eye could see. A fried egg plate licked clean (Lulu, obvs…). And a website that no longer resembled anything I had started with.

And I felt… amazing. Like I had undergone a spiritual awakening via font pairings and accidental CSS. The site felt more me than it ever had before. It was messy but intentional. Gentle but a little unhinged. Soft fonts, cheeky headings, and a vibe that screamed, “I know what I’m doing,” even though we both know I absolutely do not.

For the first time in ages, I felt creatively aligned. Everything I had been sitting on, avoiding, overthinking into oblivion, had simply flowed out of me in a sleep-deprived sprint of creation. No rituals. No planners. Just pure chaotic magic fuelled by tea, rain, and a fluffy hoodie that may or may not be sentient.

Ascension Isn’t Always Peaceful

You know how people talk about rebranding like it’s this professional, curated thing with moodboards and colour theory? Yeah, no. My ascension was powered by manic energy during my Luteal Phase and the vague desire to feel something. It was raw. It was messy. And it was me dragging myself into greatness like a raccoon with a WiFi password.

I didn’t wait for the right moment, I didn’t buy a new theme, I didn’t even have a plan. I just followed the energy. That’s the thing about chaotic creativity. When it hits, you either ride the wave or it eats you alive and spits you out on the sofa with seventeen browser tabs and no idea what just happened.

But here’s what I learnt: sometimes the mess leads you to clarity. Sometimes the storm helps you rebuild better. And sometimes your cat, your hoodie, and a fried egg are the only tools you need to rebirth your entire digital presence and feel like a resurrected queen by sunrise.

She believed she could, so she opened 23 tabs and forgot what she was doing.

Would I Do It Again?

Oh, absolutely. I thrive in that strange 2am energy where the world is quiet, my brain is loud, and I convince myself that uploading five articles before bed is a good idea. The logical side of me says I should schedule things, plan ahead, maybe not run on matcha and vibes alone. But the gremlin side of me knows better.

Because even though the whole thing was unhinged, it got me out of a slump. I stopped waiting for the perfect time to rebrand and obsessing over being polished. I stopped trying to be the version of myself I thought the internet wanted and just gave them… me. Unfiltered. Sleep-deprived. And, honestly, quite fabulous.

So if you’ve been staring at your blog, your brand, your life, waiting for the energy to align, maybe you don’t need alignment. Maybe you need a rainy day, a fluffy hoodie, a bit of chaos, and a cat who believes in you.

Because you never know. You might just accidentally rewrite your entire website at 2am and ascend too.

You Are Not Entitled to an Answer Chaos, Crumbs and Clarity

In this episode of Chaos, Crumbs and Clarity, we're unpacking why you are not entitled to an answer. Specifically, we're talking about the strange little corner of modern dating where a few days of app chat somehow becomes an emotional contract, and suddenly a man you've never met believes your silence requires a formal explanation, a debrief, and possibly a follow-up meeting with management.I have two stories for you. One man who talked almost exclusively about himself, ignored the fact that I was sick, and then followed up a week later asking whether I'd reconsidered his "request for clarification". And another who became offended because I didn't respond to his selfie within two hours while I was lying in a dark room with a migraine. Sir. Please be serious.Because here's the thing. Before you've met someone, you do not owe them unlimited access to your time, attention, reassurance, or emotional labour. You don't have to justify why the vibes changed. You don't need a reason they'll consider reasonable. You are allowed to disengage because something felt off, because you changed your mind, because you met someone else, or because you're in your luteal phase and frankly the entire world can wait.Today we're talking about the difference between ghosting and simply disengaging, why demanding closure can become a boundary violation, the exhausting expectation that women should manage men's feelings for them, and why you do not need to JADE, justify, argue, defend, or explain, when you've already decided you're done. Let's get into it.Key Takeaways:A few days of chatting does not create a debt. Matching on an app, exchanging messages, or talking on the phone does not give someone a claim on your attention. Until you've actually built a connection, you are allowed to walk away without submitting supporting documentation.Closure is not something another person can demand from you. Asking once is one thing. Continuing to push after someone has clearly disengaged is not persistence or emotional maturity. It's refusing to accept the answer you've already been given. You do not need to JADE. You don't have to justify, argue, defend, or explain why you're no longer interested. The reason doesn't have to be good enough for him. It just has to be yours.Pre-date silence and post-date silence are not the same thing. If you've never met, disengaging is part of app dating. Once you've shared an actual date or developed a genuine connection, a simple goodbye becomes basic courtesy. Nobody needs a dissertation, but acknowledging another human being matters.Sometimes they don't miss you. They miss the audience. Someone can seem interested while actually being interested in having your attention. Real connection requires curiosity about you. If the only time they become deeply engaged is when you're leaving, pay attention to that. For more visit  BryJaimea.com or follow over on IG  @BryJaimea
