The Best of 2017

Last week I wrote a retrospective of 2017 for my personal life, but today I thought I’d write a retrospective of the blog this year, or at least my top five posts for the year!

And what a year, or at least six months, it has been! was only launched in June as I was using a silly domain name prior to that, and was focussing on recipes as opposed to lifestyle. As the blog only “launched” six months ago, I don’t have a full years worth of stats to pull from, so this isn’t going to be a true reflection, however I’m pretty proud of these pages nonetheless.

But today isn’t about stats (although, I do love me some stats and pulling analytics), it’s more about recognising how this blog has exceeding all my expectations since its (re?)incarnation.

To me, blogging is such a pleasure to do and I am lucky to have not only supportive readers, but be part of a community of strong women (and men!) who support and encourage each other on a daily basis.

The past six months have been a thoroughly enjoyable journey for the blog, and I cannot wait to see what next year brings both myself and these pages. I already have a list of ideas the length of my arms, and a thorough business plan to be implemented over the next twelve months.

Now, without further ado what were my top five posts this year:

The Best of 2017

How to fix brassy hair

After a disastrous visit to an award winning hairdresser, my hair was left brassy and damaged. This post is all about how I turned my orange hued hair into a soft, ashy blonde at home, whilst also restoring some life back into it!

How to have a mindful Winter

2017 has done much to raise awareness for mental health and the importance of self care and mindfulness. Living in the northern hemisphere, SAD is a very real thing and this post is about how to be the best you despite the winter blues.

Are you a morning person?

I am a morning person and proud! This post contains my secrets, my tips and tricks, to being a morning person, no matter how much of a night owl you may be.

What I learned going self hosted

What I thought would be an easy, straightforward process lead to a lot of tears, but also a lot of lessons learned! In this post, I share those lessons and my experiences so perhaps your journey to a self hosted blog is that little bit easier.

Why you need to visit Scotland (according to the locals)

This is honestly my favourite post on the blog! Some of my favourite Scot Bloggers shared their reasons why they love this small country so much, and why you need to visiting sooner rather than later.

Although I have always blogged in one format or another since I was 18, taking seriously has brought countless positive encounters and experiences my way, and I am completely convinced 2018 will be my year, or at least the Year of the Blogger.

So that’s it, those are my top posts for the years. Which was your favourite post here on What was your favourite post from your blog of 2017? Let me know in the comments!
