Hello my lovelies! Today we’re going to be talking not only Jade Rollers, but Rose Quartz rollers! In fact, crystal rollers in general because as it turns out – there’s a lot of ’em! In fact, you can get Amethyst Rollers and Obsidian Rollers too! However, I’m just going chat Jade and Rose Quartz as these are the ones I have myself and have a much more affordable price tag attached.
We’ve all seen Jade and Rose Quartz Rollers all over our grams, and their benefits have been discussed in length. I personally love both of my rollers and use them as the mood takes me, but always as part of my evening skin care routine!
For those not in the know, Jade rollers have been around for centuries, used by the original Chinese beauty gurus, going back to the 7th century, to help smooth our fine lines and wrinkles.
And Rose Quartz rollers? Well, they were the preferred beauty tool of the Egyptians!
The reason why Jade and Rose Quartz rollers are so popular right now is because they offer amazing non-invasive, non-surgical, completely natural benefits to our skin, including:
- Aids lymphatic drainage and detoxification
- Aids absorption of serums
- Reduces dark circles and under-eye puffiness
- Tones the skin and facial muscles
- Reduces appearance of fine lines and wrinkles
- Reduces appearance of pores
- Improves skin’s elasticity
- Tightens pores
And each type of roller has additional benefits coming from the properties of the crystal itself: Jade for healing, rose quartz for self love.
These semi-precious stones, and crystals in general, have been used for millennia to aid healing, manifestation, protection, and dozens of other purposes. Although they had a massive resurgence for their metaphysical properties in the 90’s thanks to movies like The Craft, it hasn’t been until recently they’ve made their way into the modern woman’s beauty routine, including skin care, cosmetics, and of course the roller.
The real question is though, are crystal rollers woo-woo or wow? Are there really any benefits of a Jade roller or Rose Quartz roller other than being a super pretty facial massage tool? I mean, I love being surrounded by beauty (#teamTaurus), and applying beautiful products to my face, but I also like to know the why behind everything I’m using, y’know?
Well, I decided to look into it a little bit further to find out why we’re all turning to these semi-precious stones, and why we all love them so much.
Crystal Rollers: WooWoo or WOW?
For someone so drawn to science as I am, I have to admit, it took me until quite recently to look into the science behind why crystals are so popular, and why they (seem to) work. I had always thought that when handling a crystal, the body would absorb trace elements of the minerals that form the crystal, thus affecting us on a physiological level. This made sense to me for many a year, hence the lack of further scientific (read: Google searching) anything further.
Turns out I was wrong, and it goes much deeper than what I had supposed.
So what exactly makes crystals and semi-precious stones so special?
Remember in science where we learned that all matter, everything that exists within our universe, has a specific vibration – even human? Well, so do crystals!
That small lump of hard, coloured crystal in your hand began forming millions of years ago deep within the earth. Formed from ancient minerals, crystals have grown and developed over the millenia, and are imbued with the vibrations and energies of the earth itself.
Now, stay with me, it does sound a bit woo-woo at this point, but there’s more:
Crystals have a unique, lattice-like atomic structure meaning that these energies from the earth are contained within them – no different to how a computer chip contains all the information that lives within your phone, PC, or laptop. And just like every computer chip has different properties, so too do crystals – each type of crystal vibrates with a unique frequency.
These frequencies can help tune and recalibrate our own vibrations, like a tuning fork tuning ourselves to a specific note that had gone sharp or flat. And what happens when we retune our energy and our personal vibration? Well, we become more balanced, more peaceful, more mindful.
Science even has a name for this, by the way: piezoelectricity. Pizeoelectricty is “electric polarization in a substance (especially certain crystals) resulting from the application of mechanical stress”. It’s why crystals are used so frequently in electronics, and, uh, science.
This is why Jade and Rose Quartz rollers are so popular, because they’re not only physically massaging our skin and muscles, but they’re also imbuing our skin with their properties – healing and self love.
I could understand that many people would still consider this a bit woo-woo, but even if it’s the placebo affect in action, anything that promotes healing, self love, and beautiful skin has my stamp of approval.
So what do you think of Jade Rollers and Rose Quartz Rollers? Woo-woo or Wow?
